DTE to conduct direct counselling in 2014-15 Rounds

DTE to conduct direct counselling in 2014-15 Rounds

DIRECTORATE of Technical Educaiion (DTE) has proposed 10 admit students for engineering courses across State through All India Common Entrance Examination rather than conducting Pre-Engineering Test (PET) during year 2014-15. After getting approval from Government. DTE would conduct direct counselling of candidates for academic session 2014-15. Their counselling would be held according to marks scored by candidates in All India level examination. However, the proposal is in news for last two years but this time directorate is serious. Every year Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) conducts PET examination for admission to the technical courses.
Last year too directorate proposed to cancel the conduction of PET and admit students through All India examination but at the eleventh hour. State Government rejected the proposal.
As this year. MPPEB is under scanner of various scams. Directorate is trying hard 10 cancel the conduction of PET. Detail structure of admission through common test has been proposed to the government by DTE officials. However, DTE has not revealed the reason behind this proposal. Director. Arun Naharsaid that they had already separated the MBA programme from PET two years ago. Now, students are being admitted to the MBA programme throu gh common entrance management test conducted by AICTE. Earlier, DTE organised Management Entrance Test (MET) for MBA Programme.
Besides this. MPPEB officials said that they do not have confirmed informed about the PET examination. They said that senior officials have proposal to stop this examination bul board has not received any letter in terms of PET. Final decision regarding the issue should be taken soon so that students could be aware of it. There are large numbers of students who do not take the national level common entrance test. Most of the students of Madhya Pradesh take state level PET.
