Public Notifications seeking nominations for the post of the Vice-Chancellor, University of North Bengal

Nominations are sought from present and former Vice-Chancellors, Heads of the Academic or Research Institutes and eminent Scholars for the post of Vice- Chancellor for University of North Bengal by the Search Committee constituted by Governor of West Bengal for the purpose. University of North Bengal is a State University in West Bengal. The following would be the criteria for the nomination: The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed from the persons of the highest level of competence, integrity, morals and institutional commitment. The nominee shall be distinguished academician having minimum 10 years experience in a University system of which at least 5 years shall be as a Professor or ten years of experience in a reputed research or academic Administrative organization of which at least 5 years shall be in an equivalent position of Professor. The age limit of the candidate should be preferably below 60 years. The names and contact details of two distinguished academicians well acquainted with the nominee's work should be mentioned as referees.

Nominations duly signed by the nominating person and clearly mentioning his/her present/past affiliation/designations along with the nominee's curriculum vitae should be sent in hard as well as in soft copies so as to reach on or before 18th November, 2013. Hard copy of nominations should be in envelope clearly marked "Confidential-Nomination for Vice-Chancellor's position, University of North Bengal" while the soft form is required to be sent with a similar subject line. It is for the information of all concerned that in view of large number of applications for the posts of Assistant Librarian and Assistant Registrar advertised vide Advt. No. 27/2012, the institute has decided to hold a written test for screening of applicants to be called for interview for these posts. Only eligible candidates will be allowed to appear at the screening test. The Institute will inform about the details of the screening test to the eligible candidates in due course. The test will be only of screening in nature and the final selection will be on the basis of performance in interview and on the recommendations of the duly constituted selection committee. In case, any of the candidate who has applied earlier does not agree with the screening test and desires to withdraw his/her candidature from the applied post, he/she may apply for the same by 15.10.2013. In that case the institute will refund the application fee to the candidate paid by him/her.
