NEET PG Results 2013 SC Supreme Court orders to declare results on 14 May 2013 :-A bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir said that the interest of hospitals has to be taken into consideration as post graduate students after their admissions are put on duty to attend to patients.
"In the interest of students and hospitals, we modify our December 13, 2012 order and allow the results to be declared on account of examination which has already been held," the bench also comprising justices A R Dave and Vikramajit Sen said.
SC said it will give its judgment in July first week on the petition by private medical colleges challenging the validity of the NEET.
The court said the fate of NEET for undergraduate courses — MBBS and BDS — will depend on its judgment to be delivered in July first week.
The Medical Council of India (MCI) had brought in NEET to be applicable from the academic year 2013-14 to curb malpractices like capitation fee in admission to medical courses.
Several private medical colleges, however, challenged its implementation and moved the High Courts in state like Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The state governments, along with other colleges, then moved the Supreme Court. The petitioners argued that the NEET interfered with their autonomy and right to admit students of their choice by conducting their own entrance tests without compromising on merit.

As per the Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, “There shall be a single eligibility cum entrance examination namely ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses’ in each academic year”.
Applicant may kindly note that appearance in NEET-PG does not confer any automatic rights to score a Post graduate MD/MS/Post Diploma seat. The selection and admission to Postgraduate seats in any medical institutions recognized for running MD/MS/Post Graduate Diploma courses as per Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 is subject to fulfilling the admission criteria, eligibility, medical fitness and such criteria as may be prescribed by the respective universities, medical institutions, Medical Council of India, State/Central Government.
NEET-PG case verdict, which was expected to be given on May 9, was delayed by a day as the case was not included in the Supreme Court of India’s final cause list.
Supplementary cause list for May 9 was also published but NEET-PG case was not included.
The final verdict will therefore be announced today as it is the last day before court holidays. The vacation of Supreme Court will start on May 13 and the court will re-open on July 1.
MCI and most of the senior counsels have been requesting the bench for final verdict on NEET-PG case before May 13, 2013.
NEET-PG results will be released only after final verdict. Counseling at medical colleges will end on May 31. There was some speculation that this deadline could be extended depending on when NEET-PG results would be declared.
The Supreme Court last heard the NEET PG case on April 30. About 90,000 students have been affected by the delay of results.
The delay has affected students do not know whether they are to give up their jobs and get a seat in medical school.
Students had taken to expressing their frustration over the delay in results from February 2013. Fed up of the delay, some have now taken to protesting in towns and cities across the country.
