The university has different steps of for the examination process .The exams were conducted in other institution which all are affiliated with this university.The exams were done in the month of March, April and the respective result will be declared in the month of December. Madras university was also coming in the premier three universities established in India. The Madras university has grown its dignity in the research and technical education environment. Establishment of this university with a point of view of higher education with all the undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. On September 5, 1857 Madras university was established under an Act of legislative council of India. This university is recognized by the University Grant Commission.
The Madras university has its main campus in these cities are Chepaul, Chennai, Marina, Guindy, Taramani , Maduravoyal , Chetpet. The university has many departments in technical and research field. Some department name are Arts, Science, Mathys, Medical Science, Life Science, Fine Arts , Management etc. The university provides full time and part time degree courses in all these above departments. B.Tech, M.Tech, B.A, M.A. Some other diploma courses are also provided for the students according to their interest.
