■  A candidate has to first register at www.mhcet2014.co.in and enter his/her valid email id. cellphone number and password on the first login

■  Fill in the online form with information including personal and education details and upload colour passport size photograph and signature

■  All this must be carefully noted and retained for all future correspondence with MH-CEToffice, downloading MH-CET admit card, etc

■  Photograph and signature only in jpeg' format should not be more than 50 KB in size per file

■ Submit the form and download MH-CET 2014 bank challan having registration number, name of candidate, date of birth and date of registration printed on it

■ The printed bank challan will be in two parts and it has to be furnished at any of the SB1 branches for payment of fees after 48 hours of registration

■ Non-refundable fees is Rs 860 and Rs 660. inclusive of bank commission, for open and reserved category candidates respectively

■ On payment of fees, the hank will enter the date of payment, journal number or bank transaction ID. branch name and code and will put a bank seal on each part of the bank challan before returning the candidate's copy

■   24 hours after payment, the candidate has to visit www.mhcet2014.co.in and log in by using his/her registration number and password and confirm if the bank transaction ID number and date of payment have been updated

■  Click on the generate MH-CET confirmation page, save it and take a print out

Director of Medical Education and Research (DMER) released details of the schedule of activities for the entrance test which covers all Government. Municipal Corporation-run and Government-aided Health Science institutions besides private unaided institutions which decide to be a part of MH-CET scheme.

The DMER. has decided to follow the pattern and syllabus of NEET. Subject-wise, there will be 45 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of total 180 marks each for Physics and Chemistry and 90 MCQs of total 360 marks for Biology. All questions have to be answered and the test carries a provision of negative marking. One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

MHCET 2014-2015

Government of Maharashtra shall conduct “Common Entrance Test” MH-CET-2014 for Health Sciences degree courses (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BPTh, BOTh, BASLP, BP&O and BSc. Nursing courses) for the academic year 2014-2015. The said Common Entrance Test will be held on Thursday, 8th May 2014.

AS IT was decided that holding National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) was not mandatory on States for making admissions to Health Science courses. Maharashtra will he holding its own Common Entrance Test on May 8. For admissions to Engineering courses. Maharashtra will conduct JEE while Medical CET in State will not have Mathematics subject.

The process for on-line submission of application forms for the MH-CET 2014. the qualifying exam for admission to medical, dental and other Health Science courses in State, opened on Wednesday and will continue till March 25. The test will be conducted on 8 May 2014.

Negative marking pattern may be introduced from this year for the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted in State for Health Science degree courses (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, Physiotherapy, BSc-Nursing etc).

Similarly, one mark will be deducted for two or more answers of same question, scratching or overwriting. Candidates have the option of choosing either English. Marathi or Urdu as medium of instruction for the examination. The option once exercised in the form will be irrevocable.

The information brochure, posted on the DMER website (www.dmer.org) also carries details related to eligibility for admission and the exceptions in case of students hailing from families of State or Central government employees. For Medical and Dental courses, open category students will have to score minimum of 50% marks in Physics. Chemistry and Biology taken together, while the candidates belonging to constitutional reservation category and persons with disability have to score minimum 40% marks in the three subjects taken together.

According to the DMER information brochure, the three-hour test will coasist of one paper containing 180 multiple choice questions (MCQs), each carrying four marks, and total 720 marks.

No original certificates or their attested photocopies are required to be submitted along with online forms. However, original certificates and their attested photocopies must be submitted for scrutiny at the time of filling the preference forms as well as at the time of admission.

DMER used to organise the medical CET till 2012; it was replaced by NEET-UG last year under 'One India, One Test' vision of the Ministry of Human Resources and Development. This was discontinued following a Supreme Court ruling.
