NEGATIVE marking may make things difficult for students appeared in JEE Advanced today. Over 1.5 lakh candidates have been shortlisted of those that took Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Main 2013 ) held in April, only 1.26 lakh have registered for JEE (Advanced) to be conducted by Indian Institutes o( Technology (IITs). Of the students shortlisted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). over 28.000 students are girls. About 18% of the total students are female. When JEE (Main) registrations began, about 12.62 lakh students were registered. Result of JEE Advanced will be declared on June 23. In Nagpur around 3100 candidates have registered themselves. Out of those 2900 candidates appeared at six centers  There were Paper-I and Paper-II of 20 marks each. Until last year this examination was treated as IIT-JEE. In that examination the negative marking was 50 per cent but this year it has been increased to almost over 65 per cent, feel students. Some students said that Paper-II had completely negative marking.

According to a statement issued by CBSE. the cut-off for making it to the second round of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Advanced) was 391 marks for general category, 389 for OBC category. 350 for students from Scheduled Castes and 338 for those from Scheduled Tribes. Advanced examination for admission to the premier IITs was conducted on June 2 and the registrations were completed on May 13. The cut-off of Maharashtra State Board is 386 marks for General Category. 348 marks for OBC category, 343 marks for SC and 341 for ST.

This year onwards, admissions to undergraduate programmes at all IITs and ISM, Dhanbad, will be through the JEE (Advanced) examination. This year, it will be held on Sunday, 2 June, 2013.

Eligibility to appear in JEE(Advanced) examination will be decided by the candidates’ score in the JEE(Main) examination, which will be known by 7th May, 2013.  Only the top 1,50,000  candidates (including all categories)  who qualify in Paper -  I   of JEE (Main) - 2013  will be eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) - 2013.

To write JEE (Advanced) - 2013 all eligible candidates should register online at [http://jeeadvonline.iitd.ac.in/] OR [http://jeeadv.iitd.ac.in/] during 8 May to 13 May, 2013.

After online registration, candidates must pay the examination fee as applicable through challan (generated during registration process) of all SBI branches having core banking solution (CBS) on or before 13 May, 2013. The examination fee for GE and OBC(NCL) male candidates is Rs.1800/-. The fee for SC, ST, PwD male candidates is Rs. 900/-. There is no fee for female candidates of all categories. Registration is complete only after the payment.

After successful registration and payment of prescribed fee through bank, the candidates can download their admit card for JEE (Advanced) - 2013 from 14 May to 31 May, 2013. Only those candidates, who carry valid downloaded Admit Cards to the examination hall, will be allowed to write the examination.

At the examination hall, the downloaded admit card should be presented to the invigilators for verification.  The original admit card for the JEE (Advanced) - 2013 will be issued to the candidates in the respective examination centre on the day of examination after verifying their candidature. The original Admit Card should be carefully preserved till the admission process through JEE (Advanced) - 2013 is completed.
