सीबीएसई दहावीचे सोमवारी निकाल जाहीर झाले. शिवाय महाराष्ट्र राज्य माध्यमिक व उच्च माध्यमिक मंडळातर्फेदेखील १५ जूनपर्यंत दहावीचे निकाल घोषित करण्यात येतील. या पार्श्‍वभूमीवर विद्यार्थी व पालकांची अकरावीच्या प्रवेशासाठी लगबग सुरू झाली आहे. शिक्षण विभागानेही 'मिशन अँडमिशन'ची तयारी सुरू केली आहे. यंदा केंद्रीभूत प्रवेश प्रक्रियेतून कला व वाणिज्य शाखेला वगळण्यात आले असून, केवळ विज्ञान व द्विलक्षीचे प्रवेश या प्रक्रियेद्वारे करण्यात येणार आहे.

नागपूर शहरात सुमारे १७0 कनिष्ठ महाविद्यालये असून, त्यात अकरावी प्रवेशासाठी ४0 हजारांहून अधिक जागा उपलब्ध आहेत. मागील वर्षी प्रथमच कला-वाणिज्य शाखेसाठी केंद्रीभूत प्रवेशप्रक्रिया राबविण्यात आली होती. परंतु मोठय़ा प्रमाणावर जागा रिक्त राहिल्या होत्या. काही महाविद्यालये वगळता या जागांसाठी फारशी चढाओढ नाही. त्यामुळे या दोन्ही शाखांचे प्रवेश महाविद्यालय स्तरावरच होणार आहेत.

विज्ञान व द्विलक्षी शाखेसाठी केंद्रीभूत प्रवेश प्रक्रियेनुसारच प्रवेश होणार आहेत. यासाठी केंद्रीय प्रवेश समितीतर्फे लवकरच वेळापत्रकाची घोषणा करण्यात येईल. साधारणत: दहावीचे निकाल लागल्यानंतर लगेचच अर्ज वाटप करण्याची प्रक्रिया सुरू होईल.

Admissions of Science and Commerce were conducted through CAP till 2006. Again in the year 2012 admissions of Commerce stream were not conducted through CAP. VICE Chancellors from across the country on Monday resolved to bring the entire gamut of teacher education under university system, rationalize the duration of the B.Ed and M.Ed courses and ask teacher training institutes to go for mandatory accreditation.

A meeting here attended by vice chancellors of Central and State universities along with education bodies such as UGC. NEU-PA. NCTE. NCERT. further decided to bring the teaching profession on par with any other professions with relevant interventions, officials said. National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). as part of the convergence initiative, will collaborate with UGC to engaging all central. State and private university education department to reform teacher education curriculum, they said.

It will also negotiate with UGC to start refresher course programme for teacher educators in all academic staff colleges under the universities. HRD Minister Smriti Irani, who inaugurated the meeting, directed NCTE to develop database of all teacher educators in the country for capacity building.

Convergence of resources among the central. State and higher educational bodies to enhance quality of teacher education remained the underlying theme of the meet, which was held a day after the Irani chaired a meeting of the central university VCs in Chandigarh.

With quality of teacher education remaining a contentious issue, it was resolved that pre-service education of teachers for the secondary and higher secondary level as well as elementary level will be brought under university system.

"So far teacher education in the country has remained scattered impeding infusion of quality," officials said. An uniform rationalization of the B.Ed and M.Ed programme was also underlined at the meeting as the duration of such programmes vary from institute to institute. The overall consensus was on fixing the durations to two years, they said.

Monday's meeting also decided to set up a committee to look into the implementation of the recommendations of the Justice Verma committee on teacher education.

NCTE signed an Moll with NAAC for accreditation of all teacher education institutions in the country, ensuring that every institute adheres to minimum standards set in imparting teacher education programme.

The role of the education departments in the universities would also be strengthened.

विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये कौशल्यनिर्मिती व्हावी यासाठी राज्यात यापुढे इयत्ता नववीपासून व्यावसायिक अभ्यासक्रम सुरू करण्यात येणार आहे. या अभ्यासक्रमाच्या विद्यार्थ्यांना पॉलिटेक्निक, आयटीआय आणि द्विलक्षी व्यावसायिक अभ्यासक्रमांमध्ये आरक्षण देण्यात येईल, अशी घोषणा शालेय शिक्षणमंत्री राजेंद्र दर्डा यांनी आज केली.
व्यावसायिक शिक्षण विषयाला अभ्यासक्रमातील इतर विषयांप्रमाणेच महत्त्व राहणार असून, केंद्र सरकारचे नॅशनल स्किल क्वालिफिकेशन फ्रेमवर्क, केंद्रीय व्यवसाय शिक्षण संस्था; भोपाळ व राज्य शासनाच्या व्यवसाय शिक्षण व प्रशिक्षण मंडळाने निर्धारित केलेला हा दज्रेदार अभ्यासक्रम असेल. या माध्यमातून नियमित शिक्षणाबरोबरच विद्यार्थ्यांना आता व्यावसायिक शिक्षण मिळेल, असे शिक्षणमंत्री दर्डा यांनी सांगितले.
इयत्ता नववीपासून शासकीय व खासगी अनुदानित, विनाअनुदानित शाळांमध्ये व्यवसाय अभ्यासक्रम सुरू करण्यात येणार आहे. सुरुवातीला राज्यातील ३५0 शासकीय माध्यमिक शाळांना योजनेचा लाभ मिळेल, त्यासाठी केंद्र सरकारचे अर्थसाहाय्य लाभणार आहे. खासगी संस्थांना सदर अभ्यासक्रम स्वबळावर सुरू करता येईल. योजनेच्या अंमलबजावणीसाठी संचालक व्यवसाय शिक्षण यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली एनएसक्यूएफ कक्ष स्थापन केला जाईल, अशी माहितीही शिक्षणमंत्र्यांनी दिली.

RESPONDING 10 the public interest litigation (PIL) filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). Nagpur's President against College of Physicians and Surgeons of Mumbai, unauthorised) enrolling hundreds of students every year and conferring Post Graduate (PG) degrees and diplomas. It may be noted that the college was conferring PG degrees in 10 subjects and PG diplomas in 13 subjects to die students, year after year, encouraged by the recognition by the notification of March 12. 2010. by the State Medical Education Department even though none of these degrees/diplomas/certificates/fellowships has recognition under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Through the PIL it has been alleged that rampant and indiscreet use of provisions of Section 28 of the Maharashtra Medical Council Act. 1965 is as a result of "well designated conspiracy" between State Medical Education Secretary. Registrar, Maharashtra Medical Council and Secretary. College of Physicians and Surgeons of Mumbai and under the said "understanding".

the said college is enrolling students and conducting examinations and conferring the degrees and diplomas.

It has been pointed out in the PIL that the candidates are being granted registration for the said additional qualification by Maharashtra Medical Council and other State Medical Councils. There is no control of any statutory authority on the affairs of this college and the process of granting admissions by it. The number of institutions/colleges/hospitals affiliated to the "College" is 109 and it has given approval to 1900 PG seats in these institutions. The petitioner wants total control of the respondent-authorities on the activities of the "College".

समाजकल्याण विभागातर्फे अल्पसंख्याक समाजातील विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी शिष्यवृत्तीची योजना लागू करण्यात आली आहे. २0१३-१४ या शैक्षणिक वर्षात राज्यभरातून १७ लाख ४५ हजार ४४९ विद्यार्थ्यांनी शिष्यवृत्तीसाठी अर्ज भरले होते. आता २0१४-१५ या शैक्षणिक वर्षासाठी शिष्यवृत्तीचे अर्ज ऑनलाइन पद्धतीने भरणे सुरू असून, अर्ज भरण्याची अंतिम मुदत १६ ऑगस्ट आहे. विद्यार्थ्यांचे हे अर्ज संबंधित शाळांच्या मुख्याध्यापकांनी ऑनलाइन पद्धतीने भरून, गटशिक्षणाधिकार्‍यांकडे जमा करावेत, असे स्पष्ट आदेश शासनाने दिले आहेत. शिष्यवृत्तीचे अर्ज शाळेतच भरून देण्याच्या सूचना समाजकल्याण विभागाकडून वारंवार देण्यात आल्या; मात्र महाविद्यालय आणि शाळा व्यवस्थापन याकडे दुर्लक्ष करीत असून, विद्यार्थ्यांना खासगी इंटरनेट कॅफेंवर शिष्यवृत्ती अर्ज भरण्यासाठी पाठविले जात आहे.

KEEN to defuse the escalaiing UPSC row, the Government on Monday announced in Parliament that English marks in CSAT-II will not be included for gradation or merit Inn the impasse is likely to continue with agitating aspirants sticking to the demand for complete scrapping of this format.

The Union Public Services Commission (UPSC). meanwhile, said the civil services preliminary exams will he held as scheduled on August 24 incorporating the changes even as the Government refused to yield to the demand of the civil service aspirants for doing away widi Civil Services Aptitude test (CSAT).

The aspirants, who also demanded postponement of the exams, shifted their protests to Jantar Mantar from Mukherjee Nagar in north Delhi where they have been agitating for the last 25 days.

The Government also announced that candidates who look the 2011 UPSC exam will get another chance to appear for the test next year.

The UPSC row also rocked Pari iameni forcing a spate of adjournments in ihe Rajya Sahha.

"Government is of the opinion that in the Civil Services Preliminary examination. Paper-II. the marks of the question section on 'English Language comprehension skills' should nol be included for gradation or merit." Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said. In a brief Statement, Singh also said. "Candidates, who appeared in Civil Services Examination 2011, maybe given one more attempt in 2015."

"We are not satisfied with MoS Personnel Jitendra Singh's speech in L.ok Sahha regarding CSAT. Wc want complete scrapping of CSAT. We have decided to continue our fight from Jantar Mantar." Pawan. an UPSC aspirant, who is leading the protest said.

Scores of NSUI activists today staged a protest outside the residence of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, demanding scrapping of Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT).

They also shouted slogans against the alleged police action against civil services aspirants who were holding a demonstration on Wednesday evening in Nehru Vihar area of north Delhi. The protesters led by NSUI"s general secretary Mohit Sharma gathered around 9.30 AM outside the Minister"s house and raised slogans against the UPSC and BJP-led central government. "Hundreds of students were severely injured in the protests and many were taken in custody.

"We immediately demand the release of the students and strict action against the erring police officials," Amrish Ranjan Pandey, national Spokesperson of NSUI, said.

THE issue regarding filling up at least 50 percent leaching posts in colleges affiliated 10 Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has been resolved. University may issue circular on Thursday.

The problem was created after the emergence of 250 banned colleges. It became necessary to have teachers in colleges, instead of running them sans teachers. So the committee under the Chairmanship of Dr Baban Taywade was constituted with Adv Abhijeet Wanjari. Dr Pramod Yeole. Dr Ravindra Kshirsagar as members and Dr Shrikant Komawar as Member Secretary. Committee conducted 4 to 5 meetings. The committee suggested that professional and traditional courses should have at least one teacher for one course 50 per cent seats should be filled, students should not be deprived of any examination etc.

Committee has recommended that colleges should appoint teachers by December 31. But University insist that colleges can appoint teachers by October 31. The circular is being issued on Thursday and it may say that colleges should recruit teachers by October 31. said highly placed sources.

University on June 1 had displayed circular making colleges mandatory to have 50 per cent teach-erscourse-wise. University had made it clear that if that number of teachers are not appointed then examinations of those students would not be conducted. Protesting this decision. Principal associaiion had threatened to launch agitation. Because of this colleges refused admissions to students. After that University appointed Dr Taywade committee.

राष्ट्रसंत तुकडोजी महाराज नागपूर विद्यापीठ आणि 'एमकेसीएल' यांच्यातील वादाचा फटका विद्यार्थ्यांना बसतो आहे. विद्यापीठाचे 'डिजिटल' संकेतस्थळ उघडण्याचा प्रयत्न केला असता सातत्याने 'आऊट ऑफ सर्व्हिस'चा संदेश लिहून येत आहे. 'एमकेसीएल'ने काढता पाय घेतला असला तरी विद्यापीठाने तत्काळ पर्यायी व्यवस्थेची हालचाल न केल्याने संकेतस्थळ 'डेड' झाले आहे.

विद्यापीठाची दोन संकेतस्थळे अस्तित्वात आहेत. यातील 'आरटीएमएनयू. डिजिटलयुनिव्हर्सिटी' (rtmnu.digitaluniversity.ac) या संकेतस्थळाचे सर्व काम 'एमकेसीएल'कडे होते. सुरुवातीला सर्वकाही योग्य राहिल्यानंतर विद्यापीठ व 'एमकेसीएल' (MKCL) मध्ये खटके उडायला लागले. 'एमकेसीएल'ने कामांची पूर्तता केली नसल्याचा आरोप विद्यापीठाकडून करण्यात आला अन् सुमारे ३ कोटी ६४ लाखांची देयके थकवून ठेवली. 

'एमकेसीएल'ने वाढीव बिले दिल्याचादेखील दावा विद्यापीठ प्रशासनाने केला होता. 'एमकेसीएल' ने थकबाकीसाठी जवळपास २५0 वेळा विद्यापीठाला पत्र लिहिले. अखेर 'एमकेसीएल'ने विद्यापीठाचे काम थांबविण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. 

याचा फटका सर्वात पहिले बसला तो विद्यापीठाच्या 'आरटीएमएनयू.डिजिटलयुनिव्हर्सिटी' या संकेतस्थळाला. हे संकेतस्थळ तात्पुरते 'आऊट ऑफ सर्व्हिस' असल्याचा संदेश येत आहे. विद्यार्थी व महाविद्यालयांनी अधिक माहितीसाठी विद्यापीठाशी थेट संपर्क साधावा, अशा ओळीदेखील 'फ्लॅश' होत आहेत.

Strict action has been taken against polytechnics whose performance was not upto the mark of Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE). The board had cancelled affiliations of 34 polytechnics in Maharashtra completely or course-wise for acaddemic year 2014-15. These polytechnics include 12 institutes from Vidarbha. Orders have been issued that these polytechnics will not be able to give admissions in current academic year for first year and second year (direct).
The polytechnics in Maharashtra have been divided into categories namely 'excellent', 'very good', 'good', 'satisfactory' and 'poor' set by MSBTE. The board was getting complaints about lack of necessary facilities in many colleges in Maharashtra. The board conducted detailed inspection of polytechnics and found that performance of 34 polytechnics was very poor. Among these institutes, there are 12 institues in Vidarbha and 5 institutes in Nagpur. Under section 32 of board, affiliations of these polytechnics have been either cancelled completely or partially.
Show cause notices were issued to the managements of institutes which had received poor remark during 2013-14. The principals and directors of these polytechnics were called in the office of MSBTE from May 20 to 21, 2014. Most of these instutues had given guarantee letter that all deficiencies will be cleared by first week of June. Inspection committe was again sent to these polytechnics. The affiliations of polytechnics which didn't fulfilled norns, were either cancelled completely or partially. The division-wise numbers of these institues are Aurangabad divison - 16, Nagpur division - 12, Pune division - 5 and Mumbai division - 1. The list of these institutes is available on the website of MSBTE.
The director of MSBTE Pramod Naik has imposed ban on admissions to courses whose affiliations have been cancelled in these polytechnics. The issue of row over ban of admissions in 250 colleges of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University is yet to be resolved

The Medical Council of India (MCI) will take a final decision regarding the 500 seats in MBBS course in the State on July 8. The 500 seats were added in the last academic session, but the decision had been kept on hold due to various reasons.

The additional 500 seats were allotted to the State alone as part of the MCI's decision to increase 3,000 MBBS seats in the country last year. However, even as the State was given 500 extra seats, most of the government medical colleges (GMCs) across the state failed to meet the criteria laid down by the MCI.

As a result, the decision to increase the number of seats was withheld. The total number of MBBS seats in the State were supposed to increase to 2,560 from the existing 2,060.

The admission process is underway for the existing seats only, that is for 2,060 seats. MPs of the State and directorate of medical education and research (DMER) have been pushing for the implementation of the additional 500 seats from the current academic session itself.

The final decision on the issue will be taken on July 8. State president of medical council, informed that chief minister Prithviraj Chavan is taking keen interest in the matter and a decision is likely to be taken soon. There are fair chances of MCI finally giving a green signal to the additional 500 seats, which would immensely benefit MBBS aspirants of the State.

बी-फार्मसीसाठी बारावी विज्ञान शाखेच्या विद्यार्थ्यांना यंदा एम-टी-सीईटी-२0१४ ही परीक्षा देणे अनिवार्य होते. गेल्या वर्षापर्यंत एम-एच-सीईटी परीक्षा दिल्यानंतर अभियांत्रिकी (इंजिनीअरिंग) किंवा फार्मसी विभागामध्ये गुणवत्तेनुसार प्रवेश मिळत असे. मात्र यंदा अभियांत्रिकी व औषध निर्माणशास्त्र या प्रवेशासाठी वेगवेगळ्या परीक्षा घेण्याचा निर्णय महाराष्ट्र शासन तंत्रशिक्षण संचालनालयाने घेतला. मात्र विद्यार्थ्यांना याबाबत योग्य मार्गदर्शन न झाल्याने अनेक विद्यार्थांनी बी- फार्मसी प्रवेशासाठीची एम-टी-सीईटी-२0१४ची परीक्षाच दिली नाही. परिणामी त्यांना प्रवेशासाठी अडचण येते आहे.
शहरी भागापेक्षा ग्रामीण भागात ही समस्या मोठय़ा प्रमाणात जाणवत आहे. विद्यार्थी आणि पालक चौकशीसाठी महाविद्यालयात येतात. मुलाचे यंदाचे वर्ष फुकट जाते की काय, अशी भीती पालकांना वाटत आहे. या सर्व प्रकारामुळे विद्यार्थ्यांचे भवितव्य अंधारात आहे.

वास्तविक अभियांत्रिकी, बी-फार्मसी आणि वैद्यकीय प्रवेशासाठी बदल झालेल्या कोणकोणत्या पूर्वपात्नता परीक्षा द्यायच्या आहेत, त्याचे योग्य मार्गदर्शन त्या-त्या कनिष्ठ महाविद्यालयांनी विद्यार्थ्यांना करणे गरजेचे होते. महाराष्ट्र शासनाने आणि शिक्षण विभागाने बदललेले धोरण वेळोवेळी शाळा व कनिष्ठ महाविद्यालयांना कळविणे गरजेचे होते. मात्न तसे न केल्याने विद्यार्थ्यांंच्या भवितव्याचा प्रश्न उपस्थित झाला आहे.
पाल्याला प्रवेश मिळावा यासाठी पालक विविध फार्मसी महाविद्यालयांमध्ये जाऊन विनवण्या करीत आहेत. त्यासाठी पैसा व वेळ वाया जात आहे. तरीही पदरी निराशा येत आहे. या सर्व प्रकाराला जबाबदार कोण, असा संतप्त प्रश्न पालकांकडून उपस्थित होत आहे.
वैद्यकीय शिक्षण घेण्यासाठी सुरुवातीला देश पातळीवरील नीट (एनईईटी) पूर्वपात्नता परीक्षा देणे आधीच जाहीर केले होते. त्यामुळे वैद्यकीय शिक्षण घेणार्‍या विद्यार्थ्यांनी अकरावीपासून त्यादृष्टीने तयारी सुरू केली होती. मात्र या वेळी वैद्यकीय शिक्षणासाठी एम-एच-सीईटी-२0१४ ही परीक्षा अनिवार्य करण्यात आली . तसेच गेल्या वर्षी अभियांत्रिकी विभागात प्रवेश मिळण्यासाठी बारावी परीक्षेत ४५ टक्के गुणांच्या मुलांना प्रवेश मिळत होता, तर आरक्षणार्थींंना ४0 टक्के गुणांना प्रवेश मिळत होता. यंदा त्यात बदल करून अनुक्रमे ५0 व ४५ टक्क्यांची अट केल्याने कमी गुण मिळालेल्या विद्यार्थ्यांंची मोठी अडचण झाली आहे. त्यामुळे गेल्या वर्षी ५0 हजारांच्या वर अभियांत्रिकीच्या जागा रिक्त राहिल्या होत्या. यंदा त्यात आणखी वाढ होण्याची शक्यता आहे. ..तरच प्रवेश सुरळीत र८ेु'>च्/र८ेु'>शासनाने नुकतेच मराठा व मुस्लीम समाजाला शिक्षण व नोकरीसाठी आरक्षण जाहीर केले आहे. त्याचा लाभ लवकर मिळाल्यास काही जागा उपलब्ध होऊ शकतील, मात्न या धोरणाची अंमलबजावणी त्वरित होणे गरजेचे आहे. र८ेु'>
च्/र८ेु'>तसे झाले तरी त्या विद्यार्थ्यांना आर्थिक फायदा कितपत होईल, हे आताच सांगता येत नाही. कारण या जागा मॅनेजमेंटच्या असतील. यापुढे महाराष्ट्र शासनाने व शिक्षण विभागाने होणारे बदल वेळीच शाळा व कनिष्ठ महाविद्यालयांना कळविणे गरजेचे आहे. तरच सर्व प्रवेश सुरळीत होतील. र८ेु'>च्/र८ेु'>एखाद्या खुल्या वर्गातील विद्यार्थ्याला बारावीला पन्नास टक्के गुण आहेत आणि पीसीएम ग्रुपला एकशे पन्नास गुण आहेत व त्याने पूर्व पात्नता परीक्षा दिली असेल तो प्रवेशास पात्न ठरेल, परंतु एखाद्या विद्यार्थ्याला बारावीत साठ टक्के गुण आहेत व त्याला पीसीएम ग्रुपला एकशे अठ्ठेचाळीस गुण असून पूर्वपात्नता परीक्षेत भरपूर गुण असले तरी त्याला अभियांत्रिकी विभागात प्रवेश मिळणार नाही, हा जास्त गुण मिळवलेल्या विद्यार्थ्यावर अन्याय म्हणावा लागेल. यापेक्षा पीसीएम ग्रुपला एकशेपन्नास गुण किंवा बारावीला पंचावन्न टक्के गुण आणि आवश्यक पूर्वपात्नता परीक्षा अशी अट ठेवल्यास हा अन्याय दूर होईल. अशीच परिस्थिती बी-फार्मसी प्रवेशासाठीही आहे.

4 NMC Schools with 100% Result Nagpur

In a significant feat 77.34 per cent students of NMC schools cleared the Secondary School Certificate Examination, the results of which were declared Tuesday afternoon. Moreover, pass percentage of 23 schools out of 28 was above 75 per cent. Ruchika Gopalrao Dhobe from Durga Nagar Marathi Secondary School scored 90.8 per cent, securing the highest among NMC schools. While Manish Kapurchand Patle from Valmiki Secondary School came second in NMC schools with 90 per cent marks. A student of the M A K Azad Urdu medium Secondary School Rozina Tarranum Hussain also performed fairly well and came third among students of NMC schools with 88.8 per cent. Out of 28 schools run by the NMC, 11 are Hindi, 8 Marathi and 9 Urdu. As many as 1,999 students appeared for the SSC examination form these schools and out of these 1,546 succeeded. What is also to be seen is that four of the NMC schools recorded 100 per cent results with all students from the school clearing the examination. These schools include Sheshrao Wankhede Secondary School, Sane Guruji Urdu Secondary School, Pension Nagar Urdu Secondary School and Kundanlal Gupta Nagar Secondary School. Almost 87 per cent from Urdu medium schools cleared the examination. About 409 out of 471 students from these schools cleared the examination. Meanwhile, there were 10 NMC schools where passing per centage was between 80 to 99 per cent. Whereas R B G G Secondary School was worse performing NMC school as just 30 out of its 50 students were able to clear the examination.

The admission process for standard XI will begin on Tuesday as results of secondary school certificate examination will be out. This time, the admission process for science, bifocal, arts and commerce streams will be centralised. The centralised admission process (CAP) has declared time-table for admission process.
The admission process will be held for 39,780 seats science, bifocal, arts and commerce streams in 170 junior colleges in the city. Up to last year, the CAP was held for only science and bifocal branches. So the number of coloured forms for these courses were limited. But this time, the number of branches have gone up. So, application forms of various colours will be made available for students, informed assistant education director and secretary of centralised admission committee Dr S N Patwe. The students will be able to submit application forms in their respective schools. Streamwise centres have been set up for students outside Nagpur and CBSE students.

Students may find it difficult to secure admission in class XI in reputed colleges of their choice this year, as in all likelihood, there has been a significant improvement in their performance in the SSC examinations.

The students have scored higher percentage this year. Experts believe that as admissions would be done through centralised process, students will find it difficult to get a place in good colleges. Students usually give first preference to bifocal curriculum. Many students take science as second choice.

According to information, more than 75,000 students from the district appeared for the SSC examinations this year. As against such a large number of students, there are only 4,500 seats available in bifocal and 15,000 in science.

This clearly indicates that students would have to vie to secure not only the college of their choice but also the preferred stream. The charm of pursuing engineering from an Indian Institute of Technology has increased among students across the region. In view of this, coaching classes that prepare students for JEE-Mains have mushroomed in the Second Capital.

However, the leading IIT coaching classes are the ones which are most sought after, because they have an unwritten pact with colleges.

As per this tacit understanding between the colleges and the coaching classes, colleges do not pressurise students to attend college and allow them to concentrate on coaching classes.
