HTC offers phone, with fingerprint sensor

HTC offers phone, with fingerprint sensor

SHTC Corp. is introducing a larger version of its popular HTC One phone, becoming the latest phone maker to offer its flagship device in three sizes - and, of course, three prices.
HTC spokesman Tom Harlin said the company designed the Max with a fingerprint sensor to make the larger device easier to operate with one hand. Engineers also moved the power button to the side. On smaller models, it's on top of the phone, when held vertically. The Max has a screen that measures 5.9 inches diagonally. That compares with the 4.7 inches on the standard version and the 4.3 inches on the HTC One Mini. HTC is designing its software to take advantage of the larger screen. With many Android phones, images and text simply get larger on bigger phones. With the Max, the layout of selected apps is reformatted to fit more content. As for the fingerprint sensor, HTC is including similar security safeguards found in the iPhone 5S. A mathematical representation of the fingerprint is stored on the phone in a secured location, inaccessible to other apps or remote servers. However, HTC does plan to eventually offer a way for other apps to use the ID system, without accessing the fingerprint data directly. Apple has no current plans for third-party access.

Sony Xperia Z1 Review, Price In India, Details

Sony Xperia Z1 Review, Price In India, Details

What happens when a company like Sony, decides to merge its two specializations — a quality camera and a popular smartphone — into one product? The result could either be a disaster or the perfect syncing of two. The Xperia Zl manages to nearly achieve the latter.
Style and design: For a smartphone with a 5-inch display, the Zl is sleek, and fits well in your pocket. We liked how the screen and the back panel merge into the body. The keys are placed right, and easy to operate. Display and user interface: The Xperia Zl has an impressive 5-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 1080x1776 and a density of 480dpi, offering crystal clear display. The multi-touch works great. Although, the Zl uses Jelly Bean 4.2; a customised user interface by Sony, makes up for it. There's a new home screen, a different set of widgets, and an app menu that is divided into three separate screens with a sliding menu on the right to manage your apps.

Camera: Simply put, it's great. This isn't because of the 20.7 MP tag, but because we saw the camera in action. Whether it is creating a video (it can record 1080p) or clicking photos, thanks to the G Lens, its competent CMOS sensor and the large F2.0 aperture, the clarity and colour reproduction is always impressive. Though, pictures in low-light conditions are grainy in auto mode, the manual mode gives better results. The front camera, 2.1 MP is also good.

Battery: The 3000 niAli battery is better than we have seen in any Android smartphone, and with normal usage including around 3 hours of browsing and 2 hours of talktime, it could easily last for 24 hours. Handling: The Xperia Zl is dust and waterproof upto 1.5 metres. We put the phone under a running tap, and it survived, which means you can relax even if it falls in a bucket or even the sea.

Performance and connectivity: The Zl is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800, a 2.2 GHz quadcore processor and Adreno 300 GPU, making it an opt choice for mobile gaming. The Zl packs a punch with a 2GB RAM and internal storage of 16GB (12 GB available for usage). But what makes even smarter is options like Screen Mirroring, which enables you to show the screen of your phone on a TV, NFC and apps like Social Live, which allows you to uplink videos live to Facebook. Overall, the Zl offers great balance between a camera phone and a smartphone. Unfortunately, though, it feels like a glass slab, and if you aren't careful, it might slip out of your hands.

QUICK SPECS

  • CPU: Snapdragon 800 2.2 GHz quadcore
  • Memory: 16 GB: 2 GB RAM

  • Operating System: JELLY BEAN 4.2.2
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth. Wifi.3G, NFC
  • PRICE: Rs 44,990

Missing Features...
>Absence of Auto Exposure or Auto Focus lock.
>Lack of smooth zoom.
>Picturcs are grainy in low-light conditions.
>The glass back panel makes it susceptible to it
being shattered, when dropped accidentally.
>Despite the presence of a shatter and scratch
protector, you will still need a screen guard to
protect the screen. >Most premium services that make the Xperia Z1 a
prize catch like Video Unlimited and Track ID aren't
available in India. Continuation of flaps for its ports, risking exposure
to dust and water, if they tear out during use.

iPhone 5S Launched in Grey Market?

iPhone 5S Launched in Grey Market?

Apple has not launched the iPhone 5S or 5C in India. But you can still buy one. The catch: You have to shell out big bucks for these devices. To be precise, the asking rate for the basic model of the iPhone 5S is between Rs 65,000 and Rs 1,00,000, depending on who you ask, and in which city.
The iPhone 5C is difficult to find as dealers in these grey markets say that there is no demand for it, but it can be bought on websites like eBay for around Rs 55,000. The devices are factory-unlocked, which means you don’t get official warranty. The unlocked version of the 16GB iPhone 5S costs $649 (around Rs 40,000) in the US, while the iPhone 5C costs $549 (around Rs 34,000).
New iPhones have always commanded premium prices in grey markets like Gaffar Market in Delhi, and Heera Panna and Alfa in Mumbai, largely because these devices are officially rolled out in the country several months after their international launch.
Apple is considered a premium brand and people who look at it as a status symbol are willing to pay exorbitant prices for bragging rights of being the first to own the new iPhone models before anyone else does. But this time the prices are touching a new high, particular for the goldcoloured iPhone 5S model.
“There is a huge demand for the champagne-coloured iPhone 5S. I just sold a piece with 16GB storage to a person in Patna for Rs 1,08,000 through eBay,” said a Delhi-based dealer, on the condition of anonymity. He added that he had one more unit of the same colour, “but it is the 64GB model and is at an asking price of Rs 1,70,000”. “iPhone 5S in white or space grey is cheaper. I can give you the 64GB model for Rs 1,30,000,” he said.
The rates outside Delhi are less, but not by much. A Hyderabad-based phone dealer, who also maintains an e-commerce website called Lets-Go-Digital, said that he was selling 16GB iPhone 5S in the coveted gold colour at Rs 1,05,000. The iPhone 5S in grey was available at Rs 77,000.
In Mumbai, Manish Khatri, who has a phone store, but doesn’t sell phones without an official warranty, said the price of iPhone 5S is between Rs 65,000 and Rs 75,000 for the 16GB model in the city’s grey market. However, the gold-coloured device costs around Rs 85,000. If you cannot spend this kind of money on a phone and yet want an iPhone, your only option is to wait.

The gold-coloured iPhone 5S model is the most sought after. “There is a huge demand for the champagne colour iPhone 5S. I just sold a piece with 16GB storage to a person in Patna for 1,08,000 through eBay,” said a Delhi based dealer
